RCNME’s Commitment to Education Shines Through Brigada Eskwela 2024
7/24/2024

The Rotary Club of New Manila East (RCNME) once again demonstrated its dedication to education and community service by actively participating in Brigada Eskwela on July 23, 2024. This annual initiative, organized by the Department of Education (DepEd), mobilizes community volunteers to prepare public schools for the new academic year. RCNME’s efforts at Toro Hills Elementary and Pugad Lawin High School were warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated.
Led by President Karlo Benjamin Nisce, along with Directors Dave Buenviaje, Jian Anisco, Jan Cabugawan, and Executive Secretary Denmark Macalindong, RCNME made substantial contributions. The club donated 150 towels and 8 gallons of paint, essential supplies that ensured the schools were clean, vibrant, and conducive to learning. In addition, RCNME provided 100 SIM cards and 10 mobile broadband modems. These technological resources are crucial for continuous learning and connectivity, especially in a post-pandemic world. By offering free high-speed internet access to students and educators, RCNME ensured uninterrupted learning.
Brigada Eskwela, inspired by the Filipino concept of “bayanihan”—community unity to achieve a common goal—was launched by DepEd in 2003. This initiative, known as the National Schools Maintenance Week, encourages collaboration among students, teachers, parents, local officials, NGOs, church groups, and the private sector. Over the years, it has evolved into a vibrant community event aimed at preparing public schools for the new academic year.
RCNME’s participation in Brigada Eskwela underscores its commitment to fostering educational growth and enhancing learning environments. This effort aligns with the club’s broader mission of service and community development, particularly as they celebrate their 40th anniversary. RCNME’s involvement exemplifies their dedication to creating positive change and supporting educational initiatives.
As RCNME continues its mission, their commitment to education and the Filipino youth remains steadfast, driving forward the values of service and excellence.
